وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِندَ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَاءً وَتَصْدِيَةً فَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
Their prayer at the House is nothing but whistling and clapping. So taste the punishment because of what you used to defy.

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 8:35] The infidels used to go round the Kabah naked, both men and women, whistling through their fingers and clapping their hands. Use of musical instruments for sama (ecstasy occasioned by hearing song or music, or a circular dance performed by devotees in ecstasy) has no sanction in Islam in day-to-day life, leave alone at the time of worship. It is a paganish institution.
