الَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَعْرِفُونَهُ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَاءَهُمُ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Those whom We have given the Book recognize him just as they recognize their sons. Those who have ruined their souls will not have faith.

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 6:20] Refer to al Baqarah : 146. As explained in the commentary of al Baqarah : 40 to 42, 75, 78 to 91, 101, 105, 109 and 124 the Jews and the Christians knew that the Holy Prophet was the promised prophet as clearly mentioned in their books, but they obstinately refused to accept the truth.
