al-Qaṣaṣ (The Story)
ٱلْقَصَص
28:59
وَمَا
كَانَ
رَبُّكَ
مُهْلِكَ
الْقُرَى
حَتَّى
يَبْعَثَ
فِي
أُمِّهَا
رَسُولًا
يَتْلُو
عَلَيْهِمْ
آيَاتِنَا
وَمَا
كُنَّا
مُهْلِكِي
الْقُرَى
إِلَّا
وَأَهْلُهَا
ظَالِمُونَ
wa-mā kāna rabbuka muhlika l-qurā ḥattā yabʿatha fī ʾummihā rasūlan yatlū ʿalayhim ʾāyātinā wa-mā kunnā muhlikī l-qurā ʾillā wa-ʾahluhā ẓālimūna
Your Lord did not destroy the people of the towns without first sending a Messenger to the mother town who would recite His revelations to them. We did not want to destroy the towns if the people therein were not unjust.
