ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ السَّيِّئَةَ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ
Repel ill [conduct] with that which is the best. We know best whatever they allege.
Agha Ali Puya Commentary
Commentary on Quran 23:96
[Pooya/Ali Commentary 23:96] This verse lays down the Islamic point of view to deal with evil. Turning the other cheek "to the forces of evil" as the Christian church suggests, is to encourage wickedness, corruption and exploitation which shall never bring peace, order and harmony in the human society. Islam teaches man to do what is best to repel the evil. At all events the power base of evil must be destroyed.
