al-Baqarah (The Cow)
ٱلْبَقَرَة
2:232
وَإِذَا
طَلَّقْتُمُ
النِّسَاءَ
فَبَلَغْنَ
أَجَلَهُنَّ
فَلَا
تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ
أَن
يَنكِحْنَ
أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ
إِذَا
تَرَاضَوْا
بَيْنَهُم
بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
ذَلِكَ
يُوعَظُ
بِهِ
مَن
كَانَ
مِنكُمْ
يُؤْمِنُ
بِاللَّهِ
وَالْيَوْمِ
الْآخِرِ
ذَلِكُمْ
أَزْكَى
لَكُمْ
وَأَطْهَرُ
وَاللَّهُ
يَعْلَمُ
وَأَنتُمْ
لَا
تَعْلَمُونَ
wa-ʾidhā ṭallaqtumu n-nisāʾa fa-balaghna ʾajalahunna fa-lā taʿḍulūhunna ʾan yankiḥna ʾazwājahunna ʾidhā tarāḍaw baynahum bi-l-maʿrūfi dhālika yūʿaẓu bihī man kāna minkum yuʾminu bi-llāhi wa-l-yawmi l-ʾākhiri dhālikum ʾazkā lakum wa-ʾaṭharu wa-llāhu yaʿlamu wa-ʾantum lā taʿlamūna
When the waiting period of the divorced women has ended, you (her relatives) must not prevent them from marrying their (previous) husbands again if they might reach an honorable agreement. This is an advice for those of you who believe in God and the Day of Judgment. It is the most beneficial and pure way of treating each other. God knows but you do not know.
