فَمَا

أَغْنَى

عَنْهُم

مَّا

كَانُوا

يَكْسِبُونَ

fa-mā ʾaghnā ʿanhum mā kānū yaksibūna

and what they used to earn did not avail them.

— Ali Quli Qarai

And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)!
