12. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from certain persons of his people from al-Dihqan from Durust who have said the following:
“Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said that a man with a long beard once passed by the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, who said, ‘He would not look like that had he prepared his beard.’ This remark reached that man and he prepared his beard, then visited the Holy Prophet. When he (the Messenger of Allah) saw him he said, ‘This is how you must keep it.’”
