3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman from his father from Dawud ibn Farqad who has said the following: “I once heard abu al-Hassan , saying,
’Eating carrot warms up the kidneys and causes erection.’ He (the narrator) has said that he asked, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, how should I eat it when I have no teeth?’ He (the Imam) said, ’Order the girl to boil it, then eat.’”
