44. Muhammad ibn Ja’far has narrated from al-‘Abbas al-Kufiy from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa ibn ‘Ubayd and Ali ibn Ibrahim all from Ali ibn Muhammad al-Qasaniy who has said the following:
“I once wrote to him (the Imam) (abu al-Hassan, al-Thalith) from al-Madinah in the year two hundred thirty-one, saying, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, a man commands another man to buy goods for him or other things which he buys but the goods are stolen or are looted on the way, from whose asset is this loss, is it from the assets of the commander or the one commanded? He (the Imam) ‘Alayhi al-Salam, wrote the answer that said, ‘It is from the asset of the commander.’”
