9- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَةَ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ قَالَ كَتَبَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ
أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَلا تُجَادِلِ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَلا تُمَارِ السُّفَهَاءَ فَيُبْغِضَكَ الْعُلَمَاءُ وَيَشْتِمَكَ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلا تَكْسَلْ عَنْ مَعِيشَتِكَ فَتَكُونَ كَلا عَلَى غَيْرِكَ أَوْ قَالَ عَلَى أَهْلِكَ.
9. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Sadaqah who has said the following:
“Abu ‘Abd Allah , once wrote to one of his companions the following: . . thereafter take notice of the following. You must not excessively argue with the scholars, you must not verbally quarrel with the dimwitted ones; the scholars will hate you and the dimwitted ones will abuse you. You must not be lazy in the work for your sustenance; you will become a burden on the others’ - or that he (the Imam) said, ‘a burden on your family.’”
