Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Faddal, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Zurarah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Nasr, from Aban ibn Uthman, who said: Kathir, the seller of date-stones, narrated to us, saying: I (narrator) heard Abu Ja’far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, saying: “Nuh عليه السلام heard the creaking of the ark upon al-Judi, so he feared for it. Nuh عليه السلام brought his head out from the side of the ark, raised his hand, and pointed with his finger while saying: ‘Rahman itqan’, and the interpretation of the two of these words is: ‘O Lord عز وجل, make good.’ And indeed, when Nuh عليه السلام, peace be upon him, boarded the ark, he boarded it on the first day of Rajab, so he commanded those who were with him from the jinn and mankind to fast that day.” Then Imam عليه السلام said: “And whoever among you fasts it (the first of Rajab), the Fire will be distanced from him by the travel of a year; And whoever fasts seven days of it (the month of Rajab), the seven gates of the Fires will be closed against him; And whoever fasts eight days of it (the month of Rajab), the eight gates of the Gardens will be opened for him; And whoever fasts days of it (the month of Rajab), he will be given his request; And whoever fasts twenty-five days of it (the month of Rajab), it will be said to him: “Begin the deeds anew, for you have been forgiven (of all bad deeds); And whoever increases (in the fasts of the month of Rajab), Allah سبحانه وتعالى will increase him.”
