And he (Ali ibn Ja’far) also asked Imam Musa ibn Ja’far عليه السلام, about an imam (of prayer) who invalidated his ablution and withdrew without appointing anyone. What is the condition of the people? Imam عليه السلام said: “There is no prayer for them without an imam (of prayer). So let one of them step forward and complete for them what remains of the prayer, and their prayer will be complete.”
