Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahbub from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hasan ibn Mahbub from Malik ibn Atiyyah from Abu Hamzah al-Thumali from Abu Ja’far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam al-Baqir عليه السلام said: “Supplicate on the two Eids and on the day of Jumu’ah, when you have prepared yourself to go out, with this supplication: “O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, whoever has made preparations, and mobilized himself, and prepared and readied himself for an arrival before a created being, hoping for his gifts, seeking his bounty, his rewards, his generosity, and his surplus offerings then my arrival, O’ my Master, is to You عز وجل; And my preparation, and my readiness, and my equipping, and my preparation again, are for You عز وجل, hoping for Your gifts, Your rewards, and Your generous offerings. So do not disappoint my hope today, O’ You عز وجل in Whom no supplicant is ever disappointed, and Whose bestowal is never diminished, I have not come to You عز وجل today with a righteous deed that I have sent forward, nor with the intercession of a created being, in whom I placed hope. Rather, I have come to You عز وجل acknowledging my wrongdoing and misdeeds. I have no proof and no excuse. So I ask You عز وجل, O’ my Lord عز وجل, to grant me my request, to return me with what I seek, and not to turn me back disappointed or deprived. O’ Great One! O’ Great One! O’ Great One! I beseech You عز وجل by the Great, I ask You عز وجل, O’ Great One, to forgive me the great (sins). There is no God, but You عز وجل. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, and grant me the good of this day which You عز وجل have honored and magnified. Cleanse me on it from all my sins and misdeeds, and increase me from Your bounty. ‘Indeed, You are the Bestower’. (Surah Sa’ad 38:35)”
