2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Fadl al-Nawfaliy from his father who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , was asked about giving charity to an unidentified person. He replied, ‘You can give charity to one for whom you feel sympathy in your heart.’ He said, ‘Give him less than a dirham.’ I asked, ‘What is the maximum I can give?’ He replied, ‘It is four Dawaniq (a certain measurement of things).”’
