6- حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنِ الصَّادِقِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ع أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي حَدِيثٍ يَذْكُرُ فِيهِ قِصَّةَ دَاوُدَ ع أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ يَقْرَأُ الزَّبُورَ وَ كَانَ إِذَا قَرَأَ الزَّبُورَ لَا يَبْقَى جَبَلٌ وَ لَا حَجَرٌ وَ لَا طَائِرٌ إِلَّا جَاوَبَتْهُ فَانْتَهَى إِلَى جَبَلٍ فَإِذَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْجَبَلِ نَبِيٌّ عَابِدٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ حِزْقِيلُ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ دَوِيَّ الْجِبَالِ وَ أَصْوَاتَ السِّبَاعِ وَ الطَّيْرِ عَلِمَ أَنَّهُ دَاوُدُ ع فَقَالَ دَاوُدُ ع يَا حِزْقِيلُ تَأْذَنُ لِي فَأَصْعَدَ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ لَا فَبَكَى دَاوُدُ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَيْهِ يَا حِزْقِيلُ لَا تُعَبِّرْ دَاوُدَ وَ سَلْنِي الْعَافِيَةَ قَالَ فَأَخَذَ حِزْقِيلُ بِيَدِ دَاوُدَ ع وَ رَفَعَهُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ دَاوُدُ يَا حِزْقِيلُ هَلْ هَمَمْتَ بِخَطِيئَةٍ قَطُّ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَهَلْ دَخَلَكَ الْعُجْبُ بِمَا أَنْتَ فِيهِ مِنْ عِبَادَةِ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَا- قَالَ فَهَلْ رَكَنْتَ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا فَأَحْبَبْتَ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ مِنْ شَهَوَاتِهَا وَ لَذَّاتِهَا قَالَ بَلَى رُبَّمَا عَرَضَ ذَلِكَ بِقَلْبِي قَالَ فَمَا كُنْتَ تَصْنَعُ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ أَدْخُلُ إِلَى هَذَا الشِّعْبِ فَأَعْتَبِرُ بِمَا فِيهِ قَالَ فَدَخَلَ دَاوُدُ ع الشِّعْبَ فَإِذَا سَرِيرٌ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ عَلَيْهِ جُمْجُمَةٌ بَالِيَةٌ وَ عِظَامٌ فَانِيَةٌ وَ إِذَا لَوْحٌ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ فِيهِ كِتَابَةٌ فَقَرَأَهَا دَاوُدُ ع فَإِذَا فِيهَا أَنَا أَرْوَى بْنُ سَلَمٍ مَلَكْتُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ وَ بَنَيْتُ أَلْفَ مَدِينَةٍ وَ افْتَضَضْتُ أَلْفَ بِكْرٍ فَكَانَ آخِرَ عُمُرِي أَنْ صَارَ التُّرَابُ فِرَاشِي وَ الْحِجَارَةُ وِسَادَتِي وَ الدِّيدَانُ وَ الْحَيَّاتُ جِيرَانِي فَمَنْ رَآنِي فَلَا يَغْتَرَّ بِالدُّنْيَا.
6 - Narrated to us my father that: Narrated to us Ali bin Ibrahim bin Hashim from his father from Muhammad bin Abi Umair from Hisham bin Saalim from As-Sadiq Ja’far bin Muhammad 
that he said relating the story of Prophet Dawood :
“One day Prophet Dawood came out of the house reciting the Zaboor. And when he recited the Zaboor, there was no mountain, no stone and no bird that did not join him in his recitation. Finally he reached a hill on top of which lived a worshipper named Hizqil. When this man heard the mountains, stones and birds reciting the Zaboor he understood that Prophet Dawood was approaching.
Prophet Dawood said: O Hizqil, allow me also to join you on the hill. He replied: No. On being refused the permission Prophet Dawood began to weep. Allah, the Mighty and Sublime revealed to Hizqil to allow Prophet Dawood and to seek His forgiveness. So he held the hand of Prophet Dawood and brought him to the top. Prophet Dawood said: O Hizqil, do you ever feel like committing a sin? He replied: No. He asked: Do you ever feel desirous of worldly pleasures and vices?
He said: Sometimes I feel the urge. He asked: Then what do you do? He said: I go into this cave and by looking at that which is in the cave I obtain lesson from it. So Prophet Dawood entered the cave and saw a throne made of iron on which was a skeleton, and an iron plate was attached to it. Dawood saw the following written on it:
‘I am Urwah bin Salam. I ruled for 1000 years, constructed 1000 cities, married 1000 times and the gist of my whole life is that today I have turned to dust. I am the diet of worms and insects. Thus one who sees me should not desire the world.’”
