Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Masrur narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. `Amer narrated to us from his uncle `Abdullah b. `Amer from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Ibrahim b. Ziyad al-Karkhi. He said:

I heard Aba `Abdillah Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq say: If an enemy of `Ali were to go to the Euphrates while it is flowing in abundance, and it flows over its banks, and he went to it for a drink and says “In the name of Allah (bismillah)”, and he drinks it, and he says “Praise be to Allah (alhamdulillah)”, it will surely be [impure like] the dead, bloodshed, or the flesh of swine.
