Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ja`far al-Asadi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Isma`il al-Barmaki narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Ahmad al-Shami narrated to us. He said: Isma`il b. al-Fadl al-Hashimi narrated to us. He said: I asked Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq about Musa b. `Imran :

When he saw their ropes and their staffs, why did he sense fear in himself when Ibrahim did not sense it when he was cast into the fire? So, he said: When Ibrahim was cast into the fire, he was relying on the lights of the Proofs of Allah that were in his loins. That was not the case for Musa , and this is why he sensed fear in himself yet Ibrahim did not.
