Ahmad b. al-Hasan al-Qattan narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Yahya b. Zakariyya al-Qattan narrated to us. He said: Bakr b. `Abdullah b. Habib narrated to us. He said: Tamim b. Bahlul narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Salih b. Abi Salama al-Nusaybi narrated to us. He said: Abu `Awana from Abi Bishr narrated to us from Sa`id b. Jubayr from `A’isha. She said:

I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: I am the master of the former and the latter peoples. `Ali b. Abi Talib is the Master of Deputies. He is my brother, my inheritor, and my vicegerent (khalifa) over my Nation. His wilaya is obligatory. Following him is a virtue. Loving him is a way to Allah. His party is the Party of Allah, his Shi`a are the supporters of Allah, his friends are the friends of Allah, and his enemies are the enemies of Allah. He is the Imam of the Muslims, the Master of the Believers and their emir after me.
