Muhammad b. `Umar al-Hafith al-Baghdadi narrated to us in the City of Peace (Baghdad). He said: Muhammad b. al-Qasim b. Zakariyya Abu `Abdillah and al-Husayn b. `Ali al-Sukuni narrated to us. They said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Sukuni narrated to us. He said: Salih b. Abi'l Aswad narrated to us from Abi'l Mathar al-Mudhari from Salam al-Ju`fi from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir from Abi Burza from the Prophet (s). He said:

Surely, Allah made a covenant to me regarding `Ali. I said: “O Lord! Reveal it to me.” He said: “Listen.” I said: “I am listening.” He said: “Surely, `Ali is the Banner of Guidance, the Imam of My friends, the light of those who obey Me, and the word that the Godfearing stick to. Whoever loves him has loved Me, and whoever obeys him has obeyed Me.”
