6 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد ابن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن علي بن معبد، عن الحسين بن خالد، عن أبي الحسن علي بن موسى الرضا (عليه السلام) أنه دخل عليه رجل، فقال له: يابن رسول الله، ما الدليل على حدث العالم؟ قال:
أنت لم تكن ثم كنت، وقد علمت أنك لم تكون نفسك، ولا كونك من هو مثلك (3).

narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from `Ali b. Mu`abbad from al-Husayn b. Khalid from Abi’l Hasan `Ali b. Musa al-Rida

A man visited him and said to him: O son of the Messenger of Allah! What is the proof that the world is created? He said: You were naught and then you became. You know that you did not form yourself, nor were you formed by one like you.
