Muhammad b. `Ali b. Bashar narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim al-Qattan narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah al-Hadrami narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Bakr narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Mus`ib narrated to us. He said: Hammad b. Salama narrated to us from Thabit from Anas. He said:

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Obeying the authority (al-sultan) is obligatory. Whoever abandons obedience to the authority has abandoned obedience to Allah and has entered His [realm of] prohibition. Surely, Allah says, “Do not let your own hands throw you into destruction.” (2:195)
