`Abdullah b. al-Nadr b. Sam`an al-Tamimi narrated to us. He said: Abu’l Qasim Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Makki narrated to us. He said: Abu’l Hasan `Abdulah b. Muhammad b. `Amr al-Harrani narrated to us. He said: Salih b. Ziyad narrated to us. He said: Abu `Uthman `Abdullah b. Maymun al-Sikri narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Mu`iz al-Awadi narrated to us. He said: `Imran b. Salim narrated to us from Tawus al-Yamani. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn the Master of Worshipers used to supplicate with this supplication:

My God! By Your glory, Your majesty, and Your greatness! If I had worshiped You forevermore, in the eternity of your lordship, with every hair and glance since I came into existence, with the worship and the thanks of all creatures, I would be lacking in the expression of my thanks for the smallest blessing that You have blessed me with. Even if I suffered with the iron of this world in my teeth and with its dust smeared on the lashes of my eyes, and I wept as much blood and pus as there is water in the oceans of the heavens and the Earth out of humility before you, that would only be a little from the much that I owe you. Even if thereafter, You, my God, were to punish me with the punishment of all creatures, and the Fire overcame my form and my body, and I filled the levels of Hell to the point where no one was punished except me, and there would be no firewood in Hell but me, that would only be a little from the much that is due for me from Your punishment.
