Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us. He said: Al-Haytham b. Abi Masruq al-Nahdi narrated to us from `Abd al-`Aziz b. `Umar from Ahmad b. `Umar al-Halabi.

He said: I said to Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq : What characteristics are most beautiful for a person? He said: Piety without sanctimoniousness, forgiveness without seeking recompense, and industriousness without seeking the frills of this world.
