Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh narrated to us. He said: My uncle Muhammad b. Abi’l Qasim narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid from `Ali b. al-Hakam from al-Mufaddal from Jabir from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir .

Regarding the saying of Allah, “Speak beautifully to the people” (2:83), he said: Say to the people better than what you would like said to you, for Allah hates persistent cursing, insulting, condemning, and obscenity for the believers. He loves the modest, the forbearing, the virtuous and the pure.
