Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Abu Sa`id al-Adami narrated to me. He said: Al-Hasan b. `Ali b. al-Nu`man narrated to me from `Ali b. Asbat from al-Hasan b. al-Jahm.

He said: I asked al-Rida ; I said to him: May I be your sacrifice! What is the limit of reliance [on Allah] (tawakkul)? So, he said to me: To not fear anything besides Allah. He said: I said: What is the limit of humility? He said: To give to the people of yourself that which you would like to be given. He said: I said: May I be your sacrifice! I would like to know – what is my status in your view? So, he said: Look to what my status is in your own view.
