My father and Muhammad b. al-Hasan narrated to us. They said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Musa b. al-Qasim al-Bajali from Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Sama`a from `Abdullah b. Muskan from al-Hakam b. al-Salt from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir from his forefathers . He said:

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Take to the belt of this bald man (anza`, literally “removed” – in one narration, removed of polytheism) – meaning `Ali – for he is the Great Saint (al-siddiq al-akbar) and the distinguisher (al-faruq) who will distinguish between truth and falsehood. Allah will guide whoever loves him; and Allah will hate whoever hates him. Allah will destroy whoever strays from him. From him are the descendants of my Nation – al-Hasan and al-Husayn – they are my two sons. From al-Husayn are the Imams of Guidance. Allah has given them my knowledge and my understanding. So, align with them, and do not take on masters in lieu of them, or else the anger of your Lord will be permitted to you; whoever has the anger of his Lord permitted to him, He will destroy him – and what is the life of this world except a deceptive pleasure?
