1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ جَمَاعَةٌ ره عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا (ع) مِنْ خُرَاسَانَ ثِيَابَ رِزَمٍ وَ كَانَ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ طِينٌ فَقُلْتُ لِلرَّسُولِ مَا هَذَا قَالَ طِينُ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) مَا كَانَ يُوَجِّهُ شَيْئاً مِنَ الثِّيَابِ وَ لَا غَيْرِهِ إِلَّا وَ يَجْعَلُ فِيهِ الطِّينَ وَ كَانَ يَقُولُ هُوَ أَمَانٌ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ

My father and a group narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from someone, who said: Abul Ḥasan (Imam Riďā ) sent me some clothes that were wrapped up, in the middle of which there was some clay. I asked the person who had brought the clothes about this clay. He said, “It is the clay of the grave of Ḥusain
. He (Imam Riďā
) does not send clothes or anything else to anyone without putting some of this clay within it and he says, ‘It is protection with the permission of Allāh.”
