7-6 My father narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashem quoted on the authority of his father, on the authority of Uthman ibn Isa, on the authority of his companions, “In the presence of Musa ibn Ja’far
, Abu Yusuf asked Al-Mahdi , “Will you grant me permission to ask him questions which he will fail to answer?” He replied, “Yes.” Then he asked Musa ibn Ja’far
, “Should I ask?” He replied, "Yes." So he (Abu Yusuf) asked, “What is the decree for a pilgrim who is in consecration (muhrim) going in the shade?” The Imam
said, “It is not allowed.” He asked, “What if they set up a tent and he enters it?” The Imam
replied, “That is allowed.” He asked, “What is the difference between these two?” Abul Hassan
asked, “Should a menstruating woman make up her prayers?” He replied, “No.” The Imam
asked, “Should a menstruating woman make up her fasts?” He replied, “Yes.” The Imam
asked, “Why?” He replied, “This is how it was decreed.” Then Abul Hassan
said, “Likewise, this is how it was decreed.” Then Al-Mahdi told Abu Yusuf, “I see that you could not do anything?” He said, “He gave me a solid, invalidating reply.”
