28-5 Ahmad ibn Ziyad ibn Ja’far al-Hamdany narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashim quoted his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr, on the authority of Hisham ibn Salim that Abi Abdillah as-Sadiq said,

“The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were twelve-thousand. Eight-thousand of them were from Medina, two-thousand of them were from Mecca and another two-thousand of them were from the tulaqa (those who became Muslims after the conquest of Mecca). There were no Qadaris, Murji'is, Kharijites, Mu’tazilites, nor any who acts according to their own opinions. They cried day and night and said, ‘Oh Allah! Please take away our souls before we eat barley bread.’”
