قوله عليه السلام: وليس عليه شئ إلا قضاء ذلك اليوم محمول على انه ليس عليه شئ من العقاب لان من أفطر في هذا اليوم لا يستحق العقاب وان أفطر بعد الزوال وتلزمه الكفارة حسب ما قد بيناه، وليس كذلك من افطر في رمضان لانه يستحق العقاب والقضاء والكفارة. فاما النافلة بالخيار يفطر أي وقت شاء وليس عليه شئ، يدل على ذلك ما قدمناه من الاخبار، ويزيده بيانا ما رواه:
The statement of Imam عليه السلام, peace be upon him: “Nothing is upon him except making up that day,” is carried upon the meaning that nothing of punishment is upon him, because whoever breaks the fast on this day does not deserve punishment, even if he breaks the fast after midday (zawal), while the expiation (kaffarah) is binding upon him according to what we have already clarified. It is not like this for one who breaks the fast in (month of) Ramadan, because he deserves punishment, making up, and expiation. As for the voluntary fast (nafilah), he has the choice; he may break the fast at whatever time he wishes, and nothing is upon him. What indicates that is what we have already presented from the reports, and what increases it in clarification is what he narrated (in the following hadith):
