الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الرِّضَا (عليه السلام) بِخُرَاسَانَ وَ هُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّا أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ وَرِثْنَا الْعَفْوَ مِنْ آلِ يَعْقُوبَ وَ وَرِثْنَا الشُّكْرَ مِنْ آلِ دَاوُدَ وَ زَعَمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ كَلِمَةً أُخْرَى وَ نَسِيَهَا مُحَمَّدٌ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ لَعَلَّهُ قَالَ وَ وَرِثْنَا الصَّبْرَ مِنْ آلِ أَيُّوبَ فَقَالَ يَنْبَغِي. قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَسْبَاطٍ وَ إِنَّمَا قُلْتُ ذَلِكَ لِأَنِّي سَمِعْتُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنَ يَقْطِينٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ بَعْضِ رِجَالِهِ قَالَ لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْمَنْصُورُ الْمَدِينَةَ سَنَةَ قَتْلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ابْنَيْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْتَفَتَ إِلَى عَمِّهِ عِيسَى بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَدْ رَأَى أَنْ يَعْضِدَ شَجَرَ الْمَدِينَةِ وَ أَنْ يُعَوِّرَ عُيُونَهَا وَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَعْلَاهَا أَسْفَلَهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ هَذَا ابْنُ عَمِّكَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِالْحَضْرَةِ فَابْعَثْ إِلَيْهِ فَسَلْهُ عَنْ هَذَا الرَّأْيِ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَعْلَمَهُ عِيسَى فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِنَّ دَاوُدَ (عليه السلام) أُعْطِيَ فَشَكَرَ وَ إِنَّ أَيُّوبَ (عليه السلام) ابْتُلِيَ فَصَبَرَ وَ إِنَّ يُوسُفَ (عليه السلام) عَفَا بَعْدَ مَا قَدَرَ فَاعْفُ فَإِنَّكَ مِنْ نَسْلِ أُولَئِكَ.

480. Al-Husayn Bin Muhammad Al-Ashary, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Asbaat, from Muhammad Bin Al-Husayn Bin Yazeed who said: I heard Al-Ridha (asws) at Khurasaan and he (asws) was saying: ‘We (asws), the People (asws) of the Household inherited the forgiveness from the Progeny of Yaqoub (as), and we (asws) inherited the appreciation from the Progeny of Dawood (as)’. And I (the narrator) think that there was another statement which was forgotten by Muhammad (the narrator), so I said to him, Perhaps it is that he (asws) said: ‘And we (asws) inherited the patience from the Progeny of Ayub (as)’. He said, ‘It is befitting’. Ali Bin Asbaat said, ‘But rather, I said that because I had heard Yaqoub Bin Yaqteen narrate from some of his men, ‘When Abu Ja’far Al-Mansour went to Al-Medina in the year in which Muhammad and Ibrahim the sons of Abdullah Bin Al-Hassan were killed, he turned towards his uncle Isa Bin Ali. He said to him, ‘O Abu Al-Abbas! The commander of the faithful (the Caliph) has decided that the trees of Al-Medina be cut down, and its fountains blocked, and it be turned upside down’. He said, ‘O commander of the faithful (Caliph), this here is the son (asws) of your uncle Ja’far Bin Muhammad (asws), send for him and ask him (asws) of his opinion’. He (the narrator) said, ‘So he sent a message which Isa informed him (asws) of, and then returned back to him. So he said to him, ‘O commander of the faithful (Caliph), Dawood (as) was Granted appreciation, and Ayyub (as) was in affliction so he (as) was patient, and that Yusuf (as) forgave after being in power. So forgive, for you are from the lineage of those ones (as)’.
