Book 1, Chapter 228

Cure for phlegm
1 Ḥadīth

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جَنَاحٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) قَالَ إِنَّ مُوسَى بْنَ عِمْرَانَ (عليه السلام) شَكَا إِلَى رَبِّهِ تَعَالَى الْبِلَّةَ وَ الرُّطُوبَةَ فَأَمَرَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْهَلِيلَجَ وَ الْبِلِيلَجَ وَ الْأَمْلَجَ فَيَعْجِنَهُ بِالْعَسَلِ وَ يَأْخُذَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) هُوَ الَّذِي يُسَمُّونَهُ عِنْدَكُمُ الطَّرِيفِلَ.


228. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Saeed Bin Janaah, from a man, who has narrated the following: Abu Abdullah (a.s) said that: ‘Musa Bin Imran (a.s) complained to his (a.s) Lord (azwj) the High about the moisture and the humidity. So Allah (azwj) the high Commanded that he (a.s) should take the myrobalan (fruit) and ‘Al-Balaylaj’ and ‘Al-Amlaj’, knead it in honey and take it’. Then Abu Abdullah (a.s) said: ‘It has been named as ‘Al-Tarayfil’ among you’.
