2 Aḥadīth
Ḥadīth 1

عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بُنْدَارَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْهَمَذَانِيِّ عَنْ حَنَانٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ كُنْتُ مَعَهُ عَلَى الْمَائِدَةِ فَنَاوَلَنِي فُجْلَةً وَ قَالَ يَا حَنَانُ كُلِ الْفُجْلَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ وَرَقُهُ يَطْرُدُ الرِّيَاحَ وَ لُبُّهُ يُسَرْبِلُ الْبَوْلَ وَ أَصْلُهُ يَقْطَعُ الْبَلْغَمَ .وَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى وَرَقُهُ يُمْرِئُ .

1. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar from his father from Muhammad ibn Ali al-Hamadaniy from Hanan who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), saying; when I was with him at the table of food, he gave me a piece of radish and said, ‘O Hanan, you must eat radish because there are three qualities in it; its leaves repel gas, its essence quickens urine, and its root cuts off phlegm.’ In another Hadith it is said that its leaves make it pleasant.”

Ḥadīth 2

عَنْهُ عَنِ السَّيَّارِيِّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ الْفُجْلُ أَصْلُهُ يَقْطَعُ الْبَلْغَمَ وَ لُبُّهُ يَهْضِمُ وَ وَرَقُهُ يَحْدِرُ الْبَوْلَ حَدْراً .

2. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from al-Sayyariy from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ibn al- Mubarak from abu ‘ Uthman from Durust who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The essence, roots of radish cuts off phlegm, its core helps digest food and its leaves quicken urine fast.’”
