عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ رَفَعَ عَنِ الْيَهُودِ الْجُذَامَ بِأَكْلِهِمُ السِّلْقَ وَ قَلْعِهِمُ الْعُرُوقَ .
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘ Abd Allah from al-Hassan ibn Ali from abu ‘Uthman in a marfu ‘ manner who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, removed leprosy from Jews because of their eating beets and their cutting the veins.’”
عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ نِعْمَ الْبَقْلَةُ السِّلْقُ .
2. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid from Safwan ibn Yahya who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘The white beet is a very good vegetable.’”
عَنْهُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ أَبِي الْوَرْدِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) أَنَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ شَكَوْا إِلَى مُوسَى ( عليه السلام ) مَا يَلْقَوْنَ مِنَ الْبَيَاضِ فَشَكَا ذَلِكَ إِلَى اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ مُرْهُمْ بِأَكْلِ لَحْمِ الْبَقَرِ بِالسِّلْقِ .
3. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Ali ibn al-Hassan al-Tamimiy from Sulayman ibn ‘Abbad from ‘Isa ibn abu al-Ward from Muhammad ibn Qays who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that banu Israel complained before Musa, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, because of whiteness (albinism ) they experienced and he complained about it before Allah, most Blessed, most High. Allah sent him revelation that said, ‘Command them to eat cow meat with beets.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَطْعِمُوا مَرْضَاكُمُ السِّلْقَ يَعْنِي وَرَقَهُ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ شِفَاءً وَ لَا دَاءَ مَعَهُ وَ لَا غَائِلَةَ لَهُ وَ يُهْدِئُ نَوْمَ الْمَرِيضِ وَ اجْتَنِبُوا أَصْلَهُ فَإِنَّهُ يُهَيِّجُ السَّوْدَاءَ .
4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn Ja‘far from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Feed your patients beets, the leaves, because there is cure in it without illness or shock and it makes sleep of a patient more relaxing; but abstain from its roots because it stirs up al-Sawada ’ (a certain illness).”’
عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ بَعْضِ الْحُصَيْنِيِّينَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) أَنَّ السِّلْقَ يَقْمَعُ عِرْقَ الْجُذَامِ وَ مَا دَخَلَ جَوْفَ الْمُبَرْسَمِ مِثْلُ وَرَقِ السِّلْقِ .
5. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from certain al-Husayniyin who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Beets uproot the vein of leprosy and no other thing is as beneficial as leaves of beets that enter the belly of one suffering from leprosy.’”
