The Raisins
4 Aḥadīth
Ḥadīth 1

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) مَنِ اصْطَبَحَ بِإِحْدَى وَ عِشْرِينَ زَبِيبَةً حَمْرَاءَ لَمْ يَمْرَضْ إِلَّا مَرَضَ الْمَوْتِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from af-Nawfafiy from af-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘One who eats twenty- one pieces of red raisins every morning before breakfast will not become ill except the illness to die, by the will of Allah.”’

Ḥadīth 2

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) إِحْدَى وَ عِشْرُونَ زَبِيبَةً حَمْرَاءَ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ عَلَى الرِّيقِ تَدْفَعُ جَمِيعَ الْأَمْرَاضِ إِلَّا مَرَضَ الْمَوْتِ .

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather al-Hassan ibn Rashid from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘Eating twenty-one pieces of red raisins every day before breakfast dispels all kinds of illnesses except the illness of death.’”

Ḥadīth 3

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ الزَّبِيبُ يَشُدُّ الْعَصَبَ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالنَّصَبِ وَ يُطَيِّبُ النَّفَسَ .

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr who has said the following: “A man from Egypt narrated to me that abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Raisins strengthen nerves, dispels illness and make one’s breathe pleasant.’”

Ḥadīth 4

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ فُلَانٍ الْمِصْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ الزَّبِيبُ الطَّائِفِيُّ يَشُدُّ الْعَصَبَ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالنَّصَبِ وَ يُطَيِّبُ النَّفَسَ .

4. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ya’qub Yazid from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from Fulan al-Misriy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Raisin of Taef strengthens nerves, removes troubles and makes one’s breath pleasant.’”
