Hadith #1

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالرُّمَّانِ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَأْكُلْهُ جَائِعٌ إِلَّا أَجْزَأَهُ وَ لَا شَبْعَانُ إِلَّا أَمْرَأَهُ .

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘You must eat pomegranate; it suffices the hungry person and it is pleasant to satisfied ones’”



Hadith #2

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَةَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ الْفَاكِهَةُ مِائَةٌ وَ عِشْرُونَ لَوْناً سَيِّدُهَا الرُّمَّانُ .

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Ziyad who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Fruits are of one hundred twenty colors and the pomegranate is its master.’”



Hadith #3

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانٍ الْكَلْبِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ وَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولَانِ مَا عَلَى وَجْهِ الْأَرْضِ ثَمَرَةٌ كَانَتْ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) مِنَ الرُّمَّانِ وَ كَانَ وَ اللَّهِ إِذَا أَكَلَهَا أَحَبَّ أَنْ لَا يَشْرَكَهُ فِيهَا أَحَدٌ .

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from his father from Fadalah ibn from ‘Umar ibn Aban al- Kalbiy who has said the following: “I once heard abu Ja‘far, and abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, saying, ‘No other fruit on earth was as much desirable to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, as pomegranate. He (the Messenger of Allah) liked not to share it with anyone.’”



Hadith #4

عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الدِّهْقَانِ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ مِمَّا أَوْصَى بِهِ آدَمُ ( عليه السلام ) هِبَةَ اللَّهِ أَنْ قَالَ لَهُ عَلَيْكَ بِالرُّمَّانِ فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ أَكَلْتَهُ وَ أَنْتَ جَائِعٌ أَجْزَأَكَ وَ إِنْ أَكَلْتَهُ وَ أَنْتَ شَبْعَانُ أَمْرَأَكَ .

4. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Dihqan from Durust from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Of the matters that Adam said in his will to Hibbatu Allah was his saying, ‘You must eat pomegranate; if you eat it when you are hungry, it is sufficient; and if you eat when satisfied it is pleasant to you.’”



Hadith #5

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ مَا مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ أُشَارَكُ فِيهِ أَبْغَضَ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الرُّمَّانِ وَ مَا مِنْ رُمَّانَةٍ إِلَّا وَ فِيهَا حَبَّةٌ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَإِذَا أَكَلَهَا الْكَافِرُ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكاً فَانْتَزَعَهَا مِنْهُ .

5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Sharing of other things is not more hateful to me than sharing one pomegranate. In every pomegranate there is one grain from paradise, thus when an unbeliever eats it, Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sends an angel to remove it thereof.’”



Hadith #6

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ عَنْ مُفَضَّلٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ طَعَامٍ آكُلُهُ إِلَّا وَ أَنَا أَشْتَهِي أَنْ أُشَارَكَ فِيهِ أَوْ قَالَ يَشْرَكَنِي فِيهِ إِنْسَانٌ إِلَّا الرُّمَّانَ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ رُمَّانَةٍ إِلَّا وَ فِيهَا حَبَّةٌ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ .

6. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar, from Muhammad ibn Salim, from Ahmad ibn al-Nadr from Mufaddal who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, state this Hadith. ‘I like to share with someone every food that I eat,’ or that he (the Imam) said, ‘A human being shares with me except pomegranate. In every pomegranate there is a grain from paradise.’”



Hadith #7

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) إِذَا أَكَلَ الرُّمَّانَ بَسَطَ تَحْتَهُ مِنْدِيلًا فَسُئِلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ فِيهِ حَبَّاتٍ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ.فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ وَ النَّصَارَى وَ مَنْ سِوَاهُمْ يَأْكُلُونَهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكاً فَانْتَزَعَهَا مِنْهُ لِكَيْلَا يَأْكُلَهَا

7. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin when eating pomegranate would spread a handkerchief. He was asked about it and he replied, ‘There is a grain from paradise in it.’ It was said that Jews, Christians and others eat it. He (the Imam) said, ‘When that happens Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sends an angel to remove it thereof so he will not eat it.’”



Hadith #8

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ مَنْ أَكَلَ حَبَّةً مِنْ رُمَّانٍ أَمْرَضَتْ شَيْطَانَ الْوَسْوَسَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً .

8. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from Mansur ibn Hazim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘If one eats a grain of pomegranate it makes the Satan of temptation sick for forty days.’”



Hadith #9

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ جَمِيعاً عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ فِي يَدِهِ رُمَّانَةٌ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَتِّبُ أَعْطِهِ رُمَّانَةً فَإِنِّي لَمْ أُشْرَكْ فِي شَيْ‏ءٍ أَبْغَضَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُشْرَكَ فِي رُمَّانَةٍثُمَّ احْتَجَمَ وَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَحْتَجِمَ فَاحْتَجَمْتُ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِرُمَّانَةٍ أُخْرَى ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا يَزِيدُ أَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ أَكَلَ رُمَّانَةً حَتَّى يَسْتَوْفِيَهَا أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحاً وَ مَنْ أَكَلَ اثْنَتَيْنِ أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ مِائَةَ يَوْمٍ وَ مَنْ أَكَلَ ثَلَاثاً حَتَّى يَسْتَوْفِيَهَا أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ سَنَةً وَ مَنْ أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ سَنَةً لَمْ يُذْنِبْ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يُذْنِبْ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ .

9. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan all from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il ibn Bazi‘ from Salih ibn ‘Uqbah from Yazid ibn ‘Abd al-Malik al-Nawfaliy who has said the following: “I once visited abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, and there was a pomegranate in his hand. He (the Imam) said, ‘O Mu‘attib give him a pomegranate; sharing of no other thing is more hateful to me than sharing a pomegranate.’ He (the Imam) then applied cupping and I also applied cupping. He (the Imam) then asked for another pomegranate. He (the Imam) then said, ‘O Yazid, if any believing person eats a pomegranate completely, Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, dispels Satan from the brightness of his heart for forty days. If one eats two pieces completely Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, dispels Satan from the bright part of his heart for one hundred days. If one eats three pomegranates completely, Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, removes Satan from the brightness of his heart for one year. One from the brightness of whose heart Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, removes Satan, he does not commit sins and one who does not commit sins enters paradise.”’*



Hadith #10

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالرُّمَّانِ الْحُلْوِ فَكُلُوهُ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَتْ مِنْ حَبَّةٍ تَقَعُ فِي مَعِدَةِ مُؤْمِنٍ إِلَّا أَبَادَتْ دَاءً وَ أَطْفَأَتْ شَيْطَانَ الْوَسْوَسَةِ عَنْهُ .

10. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘You must eat sweet pomegranate. Every grain that reaches the stomach of a believing person; it abolishes the illnesses and extinguishes the temptation of Satan thereof.’”



Hadith #11

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكَلَ رُمَّانَةً عَلَى الرِّيقِ أَنَارَتْ قَلْبَهُ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً .

11. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn Salim who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘If one eats a pomegranate before breakfast his heart remains bright for forty days.’”



Hadith #12

عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بُنْدَارَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْهَمَذَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الرَّقَّامِ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ كُلُوا الرُّمَّانَ بِشَحْمِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَدْبُغُ الْمَعِدَةَ وَ يَزِيدُ فِي الذِّهْنِ .

12. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from his father from Muhammad ibn Ali al-Hamadaniy from Sa‘id al-Raqqam from Salih ibn ‘Uqbah who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘Eat pomegranate with its flesh; it tans (cleans) the stomach and increases the brain’s ability.’”



Hadith #13

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ كُلُوا الرُّمَّانَ الْمُزَّ بِشَحْمِهِ فَإِنَّهُ دِبَاغٌ لِلْمَعِدَةِ .

13. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad al-Ash‘ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Eat sour-sweet pomegranate with its flesh; it tans (cleanses) the stomach.’”



Hadith #14

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ صَبِيحٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ ذُكِرَ الرُّمَّانُ الْحُلْوُ فَقَالَ الْمُزُّ أَصْلَحُ فِي الْبَطْنِ .

14. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid from al-Walid ibn Sabih who has said the following: “Once sweet pomegranate was mentioned and abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, said, ‘Sour-sweet pomegranate is more suitable for the stomach.’” Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Ibrahim ibn ‘ Abd al-Hamid from al-Walid ibn Sabih from abu ‘ Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has narrated from a similar Hadith.”



Hadith #15

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ صَبِيحٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) مِثْلَهُ .عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بَقَّاحٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ الْخَيَّاطِ أَوِ الْقَمَّاطِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكَلَ رُمَّانَةً أَنَارَتْ قَلْبَهُ وَ مَنْ أَنَارَ اللَّهُ قَلْبَهُ بَعُدَ الشَّيْطَانُ عَنْهُ قُلْتُ أَيَّ الرُّمَّانِ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ فَقَالَ سُورَانِيَّكُمْ هَذَا .

15. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ibn Baqqah from Salih ibn ‘Uqbah al-Khayyat or al-Qammat from Yazid ibn ‘Abd al-Malik who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘If one eats pomegranate his heart becomes bright and whosoever’s heart Allah brightens Satan is kept away from him.’ I then asked, ‘What kind of pomegranate is this? I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause? He (the Imam) said, ‘It is the one from Sur (name of a place near Baghdad), this one?”



Hadith #16

عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّهِيكِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ الْقَنْدِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) يَعْنِي الْأَوَّلَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكَلَ رُمَّانَةً يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ عَلَى الرِّيقِ نَوَّرَتْ قَلْبَهُ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحاً فَإِنْ أَكَلَ رُمَّانَتَيْنِ فَثَمَانِينَ يَوْماً فَإِنْ أَكَلَ ثَلَاثاً فَمِائَةً وَ عِشْرِينَ يَوْماً وَ طُرِدَتْ عَنْهُ وَسْوَسَةُ الشَّيْطَانِ وَ مَنْ طُرِدَتْ عَنْهُ وَسْوَسَةُ الشَّيْطَانِ لَمْ يَعْصِ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يَعْصِ اللَّهَ أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ .

16. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from al-Nuhaykiy from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad from Ziyad ibn Marwan al- Qandiy who has said the following: “I once heard abu al-Hassan, al-Awwal, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘If one eats pomegranate on Friday before breakfast his heart becomes bright for forty mornings. If one eats two pomegranates, it then is eighty days, if one eats three pomegranates, it then is three hundred and twenty days and temptation of Satan is kept away from him. One from whom temptation of Satan is kept away he does not disobey Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, and one who does not disobey Allah is admitted in paradise?”



Hadith #17

عَنْهُ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ قَالَ أَكْلُ الرُّمَّانِ الْحُلْوِ يَزِيدُ فِي مَاءِ الرَّجُلِ وَ يُحَسِّنُ الْوَلَدَ.

17. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from ‘Amr ibn Ibrahim from al-Khurasaniy who has said the following: “He (the Imam), ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Eating sweet pomegranate increases one’s seed and forms the child well?”



Hadith #18

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ دُخَانُ شَجَرِ الرُّمَّانِ يَنْفِي الْهَوَامَّ .

18. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman from Ziyad who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Smoke from the tree of pomegranate dispels vermin?”
