168. Entering in the Chambers of Women

1- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ الْجَهْمِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) أَنْ يَدْخُلَ الرِّجَالُ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ إِلا بِإِذْنِهِنَّ.


1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from his father from Harun ibn al-Jahm from Ja’far ibn ‘Umar who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited men from entering the place of women without their permission.”’

2- وَبِهَذَا الإسْنَادِ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ دَاخِلٌ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ إِلا بِإِذْنِ أَوْلِيَائِهِنَّ.


2. Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith the following is narrated: “Men must not enter the place of women without the permission of their guardian.” H 10086, Ch. 168, h 3

3- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْخَزَّازِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ يَسْتَأْذِنُ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَى أَبِيهِ وَلا يَسْتَأْذِنُ الأبُ عَلَى الابْنِ قَالَ وَيَسْتَأْذِنُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى ابْنَتِهِ وَأُخْتِهِ إِذَا كَانَتَا مُتَزَوِّجَتَيْنِ.


3. Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from ibn Faddal from abu Jamilah from Muhammad ibn Ali al-Halabiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, if a man is required to ask permission from his father. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, I would ask permission from my father and my mother was not with him. She was my father’s wife. My mother had died when I was a boy. I did not like to disturb their privacy and they also did not like it. It is very correct and fine to say Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace).”’

4- أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْحَلَبِيِّ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) الرَّجُلُ يَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى أَبِيهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى أَبِي وَلَيْسَتْ أُمِّي عِنْدَهُ إِنَّمَا هِيَ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمِّي وَأَنَا غُلامٌ وَقَدْ يَكُونُ مِنْ خَلْوَتِهِمَا مَا لا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَفْجَأَهُمَا عَلَيْهِ وَلا يُحِبَّانِ ذَلِكَ مِنِّي السَّلامُ أَصْوَبُ وَأَحْسَنُ.


4. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from ‘Isma’il ibn Mehran from ‘Ubayd ibn Mu‘awiyah ibn Shurayh from Sayf ibn ‘Amirah from ‘Amr ibn Shamir from Jabir from abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah al- Ansariy who has said the following: “One day the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, came out to visit Fatimah, ‘Alayha al-Salam, and I was with him (the Messenger of Allah). When I reached the door, he (the Messenger of Allah) placed his hand on it and pushed then said, ‘Al-Salamu ‘Alaykum.’ Fatimah, ‘Alayha al-Salam, responded saying, “Alaykum al- Salam, O Messenger of Allah.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) asked, ‘Can I come in?’ She said, ‘Please come in, O Messenger of Allah.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) then asked, ‘Can I come in with the person who is with me?’ She said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I do not have a veil on me.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said,, ‘O Fatimah, take the extra of your bed sheet and use it as veil to cover your head.’ She did accordingly and he (the Messenger of Allah) then said, ‘Al-Salamu Alaykum.’ Fatimah, responded saying, ‘ ‘Alayka al-Salam, O Messenger of Allah.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) asked, ‘Can I come in?’ She replied, ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allah.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) then asked, ‘Can I come in with the person with me?’ She replied, ‘Yes, you may come with the person with you.’ Jabir has said that the Messenger of Allah entered and I also entered and I saw the face of Fatimah looked yellow like the belly of a locust. The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, asked, ‘What has happened, O Fatimah that your face looks yellow?’ She replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, it is hunger.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) prayed saying, £ 0 Lord, who satisfies hunger, repels the cause of loss, satisfy Fatimah daughter of Muhammad.’ Jabir has said, ‘I then saw blood flow through its course and her face turned to its normal color and thereafter she did not experience any more hunger.’”
