Ḥadīth 1

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ أَ يُصَلِّي الرَّجُلُ وَهُوَ مُتَلَثِّمٌ فَقَالَ أَمَّا عَلَى الأرْضِ فَلاَ وَأَمَّا عَلَى الدَّابَّةِ فَلاَ بَأْسَ.

1. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan, from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Rib‘i, from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about a man’s performing Salah (prayer) with his face veiled. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not permissible while on the ground; however, while riding on a stumper is not an offense.’”

Ḥadīth 2

2ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُصَلِّي وَعَلَيْهِ خِضَابُهُ قَالَ لاَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ وَلَكِنْ يَنْزِعُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ قُلْتُ إِنَّ حِنَّاهُ وَخِرْقَتَهُ نَظِيفَةٌ فَقَالَ لاَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ وَالْمَرْأَةُ أَيْضاً لاَ تُصَلِّي وَعَلَيْهَا خِضَابُهَا.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from ibn Muskan from abu Bakr al-Hadramiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who performs Salah (prayer) with dyes (paint) on him. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must not perform Salah (prayer) while it is on him. He must remove it when he wants to perform Salah (prayer).’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘Is it acceptable if it is inside a piece of fabric which is clean?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He must not perform Salah (prayer) while it is on him and a woman also must not perform Salah (prayer) while it is on her.’”

Ḥadīth 3

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ الْقُمِّيُّ فَقَالَ أَصْلَحَكَ الله أَسْجُدُ وَيَدِي فِي ثَوْبِي فَقَالَ إِنْ شِئْتَ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنِّي وَالله مَا مِنْ هَذَا وَشِبْهِهِ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ.

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘ Umayr from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj who has said the following: “I once was with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), when ‘Abd al-Malik al-Qummiy came and asked saying, ‘I pray to Allah to keep you well, I perform Sajdah (prostration) and my hands are inside my clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘If you want, you can do so.’ He (the narrator) has said that he (the Imam) then said, ‘I, by Allah, am not afraid for you because of this and things similar to it.’”

Ḥadīth 4

4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَمَّنْ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي الرَّجُلِ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ يُومِىُ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ قَالَ يَكْشِفُ مَوْضِعَ السُّجُودِ.

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Nu‘man from those who he has mentioned who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who performs Sajdah (prostration) on the saddle while on horseback, has said, ‘He must clear the place for his Sajdah (prostration).”’

Ḥadīth 5

5ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُصَادِفٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي رَجُلٍ صَلَّى فَرِيضَةً وَهُوَ مُعَقَّصُ الشَّعْرِ قَالَ يُعِيدُ صَلاَتَهُ.

5. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from Musadif who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who bundles up his hairs on the top of his head, has said, ‘He is required to perform his Salah (prayer) again.’” (Fatwa best explains this Hadith.)
