Al-Kāfi

1ـ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْعِيصِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ ذَهَبَ طَمْثُهَا سِنِينَ ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَيْهَا شَيْ‏ءٌ قَالَ تَتْرُكُ الصَّلاَةَ حَتَّى تَطْهُرَ.

1. Abu Ali al-Ash’ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from al-‘Is ibn al-Qasim who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman whose Hayd (menses) stops for years and it comes back again. He (the Imam) said, ‘She must not perform Salah (prayer) until she is Hayd (menses) free.’”

2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) الْمَرْأَةُ الَّتِي قَدْ يَئِسَتْ مِنَ الْمَحِيضِ حَدُّهَا خَمْسُونَ سَنَةً. وَرُوِيَ سِتُّونَ سَنَةً أَيْضاً.

2. Ali has narrated from Muhammad from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from certain persons of our people who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Menopause happens at the age of fifty. 5 It is also narrated that it is at the age of sixty.”

3ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ طَرِيفٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ خَمْسِينَ سَنَةً لَمْ تَرَ حُمْرَةً إِلاَّ أَنْ تَكُونَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Tarif from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from certain persons of our people who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When a woman becomes fifty years old, she does not see anything red (experience Hayd (menses)) unless she is from Quraysh.’”

4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ حَدُّ الَّتِي قَدْ يَئِسَتْ مِنَ الْمَحِيضِ خَمْسُونَ سَنَةً.

4. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Safwan ibn Yahya from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Menopause happens at the age of fifty years.”’
