Al-Kāfi - Volume 3 > Mixing of Rain Water with Urine, with Water Used for Taking Ghusl (bath) Because of Carnal Relations, Touching of One’s Cloth with Water Used for Washing Because of Urine
Hadith #1

1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي مِيزَابَيْنِ سَالاَ أَحَدُهُمَا بَوْلٌ وَالآخَرُ مَاءُ الْمَطَرِ فَاخْتَلَطَا فَأَصَابَ ثَوْبَ رَجُلٍ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ ذَلِكَ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about two drain-shoots; one is rain water and the other urine which mix with each other and drops thereof sprinkle over one’s clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful (when it still is raining).”’



Hadith #2

2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَسْرُوقٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ مِسْكِينٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ مِيزَابَيْنِ سَالاَ أَحَدُهُمَا مِيزَابُ بَوْلٍ وَالآخَرُ مِيزَابُ مَاءٍ فَاخْتَلَطَا ثُمَّ أَصَابَكَ مَا كَانَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Haytham ibn abu Masruq from al-Hakam ibn Miskin from Muhammad ibn Marwan who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that if two drain-shoots, one with rain water and the other with urine mix, and drops thereof sprinkle over one’s clothes, it is not harmful for him.”



Hadith #3

3ـ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ الْكَاهِلِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ أَمُرُّ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَيَسِيلُ عَلَيَّ الْمِيزَابُ فِي أَوْقَاتٍ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ النَّاسَ يَتَوَضَّئُونَ قَالَ قَالَ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ لاَ تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُ قُلْتُ وَيَسِيلُ عَلَيَّ مِنْ مَاءِ الْمَطَرِ أَرَى فِيهِ التَّغَيُّرَ وَأَرَى فِيهِ آثَارَ الْقَذَرِ فَتَقْطُرُ الْقَطَرَاتُ عَلَيَّ وَيَنْتَضِحُ عَلَيَّ مِنْهُ وَالْبَيْتُ يُتَوَضَّأُ عَلَى سَطْحِهِ فَيَكِفُ عَلَى ثِيَابِنَا قَالَ مَا بِذَا بَأْسٌ لاَ تَغْسِلْهُ كُلُّ شَيْ‏ءٍ يَرَاهُ مَاءُ الْمَطَرِ فَقَدْ طَهُرَ.

3. Ahmad ibn Muhammad from has narrated from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-Kahiliy from a man who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I sometimes, pass by and water from a drain-shoot falls on me. At such time, I know, people take Wudu’. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful. You do not need to ask (inquire).’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘What happens if rain water falls on me and I see its color is changed; there are signs of dirt with it and several drops sprinkle and fall on me, while on the roof of the house people take Wudu’. Should we keep our clothes on us in such condition?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful. You do not need to wash your clothes. Everything and substance which has become unclean turns clean when rain falls on it.’”



Hadith #4

4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ فِي طِينِ الْمَطَرِ أَنَّهُ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ أَنْ يُصِيبَ الثَّوْبَ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُعْلَمَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ نَجَّسَهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ بَعْدَ الْمَطَرِ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ بَعْدَ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ فَاغْسِلْهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ الطَّرِيقُ نَظِيفاً لَمْ تَغْسِلْهُ.

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from certain persons of our people who have said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about soil which is found with rain water. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful up to three days unless it is found out to have become Najis (unclean) by something after rainfall. If such drops sprinkle after three days, then you must wash, but if the road is clean, then you do not need to wash.’”



Hadith #5

5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنِ الأحْوَلِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْخَلاَءِ فَأَسْتَنْجِي بِالْمَاءِ فَيَقَعُ ثَوْبِي فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَاءِ الَّذِي اسْتَنْجَيْتُ بِهِ فَقَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ.

5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from ibn ’Udhaynah from al-Ahwal who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I may use the toilet and then wash to clean myself but my clothes touch the water which was used for cleaning. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”



Hadith #6

6ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ شِهَابِ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْجُنُبِ يَغْتَسِلُ فَيَقْطُرُ الْمَاءُ عَنْ جَسَدِهِ فِي الإِنَاءِ وَيَنْتَضِحُ الْمَاءُ مِنَ الأرْضِ فَيَصِيرُ فِي الإِنَاءِ إِنَّهُ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهَذَا كُلِّهِ.

6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Shihab ibn ‘Abd Rabbihi who has said the following: “It is about the case of a man who takes Ghusl (bath) and water-drops from his body sprinkle into the water container and from the ground. Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘It is not harmful.’”



Hadith #7

7ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ فِي الرَّجُلِ الْجُنُبِ يَغْتَسِلُ فَيَنْتَضِحُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فِي الإِنَاءِ فَقَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ ما جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ.

7. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Rib‘i ibn ‘Abd Allah from al-Fudayl ibn Yasar who has said the following: “It is about a man who takes Ghusl (bath) due to sexual matters and water drops sprinkle into the water container. Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘It is not harmful. Allah has not sanctioned anything in religion which causes hardships for you.”’



Hadith #8

8ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَغْتَسِلُ فِي مُغْتَسَلٍ يُبَالُ فِيهِ وَيُغْتَسَلُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فَيَقَعُ فِي الإِنَاءِ مَاءٌ يَنْزُو مِنَ الأرْضِ فَقَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ.

8. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad, from af-Washsha’, from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman, from ‘Umar ibn Yazid who has said the foiiowing: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I may take Ghusl (bath) in a place which is used for taking Ghusl (bath) due to sexual matters, and urination and water-drops sprinkle from the ground into the water container.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”
