Al-Kāfi

1ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَنِيِّ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ قَالَ إِنْ عَرَفْتَ مَكَانَهُ فَاغْسِلْهُ وَإِنْ خَفِيَ عَلَيْكَ مَكَانُهُ فَاغْسِلْهُ كُلَّهُ.

1. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Washsha’ from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman from ibn abu Ya‘fur who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of semen’s coming in contact with one’s clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘If you know the place of contact wash it clean; but if you do not know, wash all of it clean.’”

2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ مُيَسِّرٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) آمُرُ الْجَارِيَةَ فَتَغْسِلُ ثَوْبِي مِنَ الْمَنِيِّ فَلاَ تُبَالِغُ غَسْلَهُ فَأُصَلِّي فِيهِ فَإِذَا هُوَ يَابِسٌ قَالَ أَعِدْ صَلاَتَكَ أَمَّا إِنَّكَ لَوْ كُنْتَ غَسَلْتَ أَنْتَ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْكَ شَيْ‏ءٌ.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Um ay r from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar from Muyassir who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I instruct the slave-girl to wash my clothes because of semen, but she does not pay proper attention to washing and I perform Salah (prayer) in them and it (semen) is dry. He (the Imam) said, ‘You must do your Salah (prayer) again. Had you yourself washed it, you would not have been required to perform your Salah (prayer) again.’”

3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَنِيِّ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ قَالَ اغْسِلِ الثَّوْبَ كُلَّهُ إِذَا خَفِيَ عَلَيْكَ مَكَانُهُ قَلِيلاً كَانَ أَوْ كَثِيراً.

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah who has said the following: “I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about the case of semen that pollutes one’s clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘You must wash all of your clothes when you do not know exactly the polluted spot, regardless, if it is a little or large area.’”

4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا احْتَلَمَ الرَّجُلُ فَأَصَابَ ثَوْبَهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ فَلْيَغْسِلِ الَّذِي أَصَابَهُ وَإِنْ ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ أَصَابَهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ وَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِنْ وَلَمْ يَرَ مَكَانَهُ فَلْيَنْضَحْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَإِنْ يَسْتَيْقِنْ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَصَابَهُ وَلَمْ يَرَ مَكَانَهُ فَلْيَغْسِلْ ثَوْبَهُ كُلَّهُ فَإِنَّهُ أَحْسَنُ.

4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a man experiences wet dream and his clothes come in contact with semen, he must wash the polluted area. If he thinks, but is not certain and has not seen the polluted area, he must pour water on it. If he is certain that semen has come in contact with his clothes but he has not seen the polluted spot, he must wash all of his clothes; it is better.’”

5ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الْمَذْيِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ قَالَ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ.

5. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about al-Madhiy (the pre-seminal fluid) which pollutes one’s clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

6ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ عَنْبَسَةَ بْنِ مُصْعَبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) يَقُولُ لاَ نَرَى فِي الْمَذْيِ وُضُوءاً وَلاَ غَسْلاً مَا أَصَابَ الثَّوْبَ مِنْهُ إِلاَّ فِي الْمَاءِ الأكْبَرِ.

6. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Washsha’ from Aban from ‘Anbasah ibn Mus’ab who has said the following: “I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘Wudu’ is not necessary because of al-Madhiy (the pre-seminal fluid) nor is washing clothes which may have come in contact with it unless it is the major discharge of (semen).”’
