1. Muhammad ibn al-Husayn narrated to me, saying: Sa’d ibn Abdullah narrated to me from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from al-Husayn ibn Ali ibn Faddal, from Abi Dawud al-Mustariq, from Tha’laba ibn Maymun, from Yunus ibn Ya’qub, from Abu Abdillah al-Sadiq (as), who said: "The Messenger of Allah (saw) turned to his companions and said: 'Take up shields.' They asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, is it from an enemy who has surrounded us?' He replied, 'No, but from the fire (of Hell). Say: Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah), Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah), and Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest).'"

Ḥadīth 2

2. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) says that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said, “Recite Sub-h’aanallaahi wal h’amdu lillaahi wa laa ilaaha illallaahu wallaahu akbar often because this statement will come to you surrounded by angels and will be included among your good deeds.”

Ḥadīth 3

3. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) says, “One who says Sub- h’aanallah Allah will plant a tree for him in Paradise. One who says Al-h’amdulillaah then too a tree will be planted for him in Paradise. Similarly, One who says Laa ilaaha illallaah then also Allah will plant a tree for him in Paradise. Allah will also plant a tree for one who recites Allaahu Akbar. A man of Quraish said: O the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.), then there would be many trees in Paradise for us? Yes, but be careful that you do not send fire or they all would get burnt up. That is why the Almighty Allah said: O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Apostle, and do not make your deeds of no effect.1

4. And with this chain of narration from Ahmad, from his father, and Muhammad ibn 'Isa, from Safwan ibn Yahya, from Abu Ayyub al-Khazzaz, from Abu Basir, from Abu Abdillah (AS), who said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (sw) said to his companions one day, 'Do you think that if you were to gather what you have of clothing and utensils, then placed them atop one another, would you perceive them reaching the sky?' They replied, 'No, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Shall I not inform you of something whose root is in the earth and its branches in the sky?' They said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'One of you, upon completing the obligatory prayer, should say: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), La ilaha illallah (There is no god but Allah), Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greater than what can be described); thirty times. For indeed, their root is in the earth and their branches are in the sky. They prevent destruction, fire, drowning, falling in a well, consumption by wild beasts, death due to accidents, and the affliction that descends from the sky upon the servant on that day. They are the enduring good deeds.'"
