 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ السَّعْدَآبَادِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِیِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِی عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ مَالِکِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ آبَائِهِ ع عَنِ النَّبِیِّ ص قَالَ: جَاءَ الْفُقَرَاءُ إِلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالُوا یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِلْأَغْنِیَاءِ مَا یُعْتِقُونَ وَ لَیْسَ لَنَا وَ لَهُمْ مَا یَحُجُّونَ وَ لَیْسَ لَنَا وَ لَهُمْ مَا یَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَ لَیْسَ لَنَا وَ لَهُمْ مَا یُجَاهِدُونَ بِهِ وَ لَیْسَ لَنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِیُّ ص مَنْ کَبَّرَ اللَّهَ مِائَهَ مَرَّهٍ کَانَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ عِتْقِ مِائَهِ رَقَبَهٍ وَ مَنْ سَبَّحَ اللَّهَ مِائَهَ مَرَّهٍ کَانَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ سِیَاقِ مِائَهِ بَدَنَهٍ وَ مَنْ حَمَّدَ اللَّهَ مِائَهَ مَرَّهٍ کَانَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ حُمْلَانِ مِائَهِ فَرَسٍ فِی سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ بِسُرُجِهَا وَ لُجُمِهَا وَ رُکُبِهَا وَ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مِائَهَ مَرَّهٍ کَانَ أَفْضَلَ النَّاسِ عَمَلًا فِی ذَلِکَ الْیَوْمِ إِلَّا مَنْ زَادَ قَالَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِکَ الْأَغْنِیَاءَ فَصَنَعُوهُ قَالَ فَعَادُوا إِلَی النَّبِیِّ ص فَقَالُوا یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ بَلَغَ الْأَغْنِیَاءَ مَا قُلْتَ فَصَنَعُوهُ قَالَ ذلِکَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ یُؤْتِیهِ مَنْ یَشاءُ وَ اللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِیمِ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil (rah) who said it was narrated to me by Ali b. al-Hussain al-Sa’dabadi from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah al-Barqi who said it was narrated to us by Abi from Muhammad b. Abi ’Umayr from Malik b. Anas from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) from his forefathers (a.s.) from The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) who said: “When rich people came to know about this tradition, they too started performing these deeds. The poor people again came to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and said that even rich people have come to know about this and they too are offering them. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) replied, ‘That is Allah’s grace; He grants it to whom He pleases, and Allah is the Lord of mighty grace’.”
