1ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى وَأَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَسَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رِئَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ لله وَأَبْغَضَ لله وَأَعْطَى لله فَهُوَ مِمَّنْ كَمَلَ إِيمَانُهُ.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa and Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Sahl ibn Ziyad all from ibn Mahbub from Ali ibn Ri’ab from abu ‘Ubaydah al-Hadhdha’ from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah
has said, ‘Whoever loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah and gives for the sake of Allah, he is of those whose belief is complete.’”
2ـ ابْنُ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الأعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مِنْ أَوْثَقِ عُرَى الإيمَانِ أَنْ تُحِبَّ فِي الله وَتُبْغِضَ فِي الله وَتُعْطِيَ فِي الله وَتَمْنَعَ فِي الله.
2. Ibn Mahbub has narrated from Malik ibn ‘Atiyah from Sa’id al-A’raj from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “The strongest ring of belief to hold onto is to love for the sake of Allah and hate for the sake of Allah, to give for the sake of Allah and deny for the sake of Allah.”
3ـ ابْنُ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ الأحْوَلِ صَاحِبِ الطَّاقِ عَنْ سَلامِ بْنِ الْمُسْتَنِيرِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) وُدُّ الْمُؤْمِنِ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ فِي الله مِنْ أَعْظَمِ شُعَبِ الإيمَانِ أَلا وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ فِي الله وَأَبْغَضَ فِي الله وَأَعْطَى فِي الله وَمَنَعَ فِي الله فَهُوَ مِنْ أَصْفِيَاءِ الله.
3. Ibn Mahbub has narrated from abu Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Nu’man al-Ahwal Sahib al-Taq from Salam ibn al-Mustanir from abu Ja’far who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Love of a believer for another believer only for the sake of Allah is of the greatest branches of belief. It is certain that whoever loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, gives for the sake of Allah and denies for the sake of Allah is of the chosen people of Allah.’”
4ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْمُتَحَابِّينَ فِي الله يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى مَنَابِرَ مِنْ نُورٍ قَدْ أَضَاءَ نُورُ وُجُوهِهِمْ وَنُورُ أَجْسَادِهِمْ وَنُورُ مَنَابِرِهِمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى يُعْرَفُوا بِهِ فَيُقَالُ هَؤُلاءِ الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي الله.
4. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu’alla ibn Muhammad from al- Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ from Ali ibn abu Hamza from abu Basir from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “Abu Basir has said, ‘I heard the Imam saying, “Those who love each other for the sake of Allah, on the Day of Judgment will be seen on the pulpits of light. The light of their faces, the light of their bodies and the light of their pulpits will light up all things so much so that they will become known for it, and they will be called people loving for the sake of Allah.””’’
5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) عَنِ الْحُبِّ وَالْبُغْضِ أَ مِنَ الإيمَانِ هُوَ فَقَالَ وَهَلِ الإيمَانُ إِلا الْحُبُّ وَالْبُغْضُ ثُمَّ تَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ حَبَّبَ إِلَيْكُمُ الإيمانَ وَزَيَّنَهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكُفْرَ وَالْفُسُوقَ وَالْعِصْيانَ أُولئِكَ هُمُ الرَّاشِدُونَ.
5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad from Hariz from Fudayl ibnYasar who has said the following: “I asked Abu ‘Abdillah ‘Are love and hate part of belief?’ The Imam asked, ‘Is belief anything but love and hate?’ He then read the words of Allah, ‘. . . But Allah has endeared belief to you and has made it attractive to your hearts. He has made disbelief, evil deeds and disobedience hateful to you. Such people will have the right guidance.’” (49:7)
6ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى فِيمَا أَعْلَمُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ الطَّائِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) لأصْحَابِهِ أَيُّ عُرَى الإيمَانِ أَوْثَقُ فَقَالُوا الله وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمُ الصَّلاةُ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمُ الزَّكَاةُ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمُ الصِّيَامُ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمُ الْحَجُّ وَالْعُمْرَةُ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمُ الْجِهَادُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) لِكُلِّ مَا قُلْتُمْ فَضْلٌ وَلَيْسَ بِهِ وَلَكِنْ أَوْثَقُ عُرَى الإيمَانِ الْحُبُّ فِي الله وَالْبُغْضُ فِي الله وَتَوَالِي أَوْلِيَاءِ الله وَالتَّبَرِّي مِنْ أَعْدَاءِ الله.
6. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from abu al-Hassan Ali ibn Yahya (as far as I know) from ‘Amr ibn Mudrik al-Ta’i from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah once asked his companions, ‘Which ring of belief is stronger to hold on to?’ They said, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ Certain individuals among them said, ‘It is prayer,’ others said, ‘It is al-Zakat (charity)’, a few of them said, ‘It is fasting’, others said, ‘It is Hajj and ‘Umrah’ and still others said, ‘It is Jihad (hard work against the enemies).’ “The Messenger of Allah then said, ‘For everything you said there is a merit but is not such a ring. In fact the strongest ring of belief to hold on to is love for the sake of Allah, hate for the sake of Allah, support and love those who have received authority from Allah and to disassociate from the enemies of Allah.’”
7ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ جَبَلَةَ الأحْمَسِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْجَارُودِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي الله يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى أَرْضِ زَبَرْجَدَةٍ خَضْرَاءَ فِي ظِلِّ عَرْشِهِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَكِلْتَا يَدَيْهِ يَمِينٌ وُجُوهُهُمْ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضاً وَأَضْوَأُ مِنَ الشَّمْسِ الطَّالِعَةِ يَغْبِطُهُمْ بِمَنْزِلَتِهِمْ كُلُّ مَلَكٍ مُقَرَّبٍ وَكُلُّ نَبِيٍّ مُرْسَلٍ يَقُولُ النَّاسُ مَنْ هَؤُلاءِ فَيُقَالُ هَؤُلاءِ الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي الله.
7. It is narrated from him (Ahmad bin Abi Abdillah) from Muhammad ibn Ali from ‘Umar ibn Jabalah from al-Ahmasi from Abu al-Jarud that Abu Ja’far al-Baqir narrated that Rasulullah ﷺ said: "The people who love one another for the sake of Allah will be on a green carpet on the Day of Resurrection, in the shade of on the right side of His Throne, and both of His hands are right hands. Their faces will be whiter and brighter than the rising sun. Every close angel and every sent prophet will envy them for their status. People will ask, 'Who are these?' and it will be said, 'These are the ones who love one another for the sake of Allah.'"
8ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيهِما السَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا جَمَعَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الأوَّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ قَامَ مُنَادٍ فَنَادَى يُسْمِعُ النَّاسَ فَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي الله قَالَ فَيَقُومُ عُنُقٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَيُقَالُ لَهُمُ اذْهَبُوا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ قَالَ فَتَلَقَّاهُمُ الْمَلائِكَةُ فَيَقُولُونَ إِلَى أَيْنَ فَيَقُولُونَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ قَالَ فَيَقُولُونَ فَأَيُّ ضَرْبٍ أَنْتُمْ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَيَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ الْمُتَحَابُّونَ فِي الله قَالَ فَيَقُولُونَ وَأَيَّ شَيْءٍ كَانَتْ أَعْمَالُكُمْ قَالُوا كُنَّا نُحِبُّ فِي الله وَنُبْغِضُ فِي الله قَالَ فَيَقُولُونَ نِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعَامِلِينَ.
8. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from al- Nadr ibn Suwayd from Hisham ibn Salim from abu Hamza al-Thumali from Ali ibn al-Husayn who has said the following: “When Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, will gather together all the people of the past and the later generations, a caller whom everyone will hear will call, ‘Where are those whose love was just for the sake of Allah?’ Certain necks will rise from among the people and it will be said to them, ‘Go to paradise without any questions asked.’ The Imam said, ‘The angels will meet them asking, “Where are you going?” They will say, “We are going to paradise without any questions asked.” The Imam said, “The angels will ask, ‘What kind of people are you?’ They will say, ‘We are the people who loved just for the sake of Allah.’ The Imam said, ‘The angels will ask, “What were your deeds?” They will reply, “We loved for the sake of Allah and hated just for the sake of Allah.” The Imam said, ‘The angels will say, “How wonderful is the reward of the doers of good deeds!””’
9ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ ثَلاثٌ مِنْ عَلامَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِ عِلْمُهُ بِالله وَمَنْ يُحِبُّ وَمَنْ يُبْغِضُ.
9. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ali ibn Hassan from those he has mentioned (in his book) from Dawud ibn Farqad from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah
has said, ‘Three things are of the signs of a believer: His knowledge of Allah, who to love and who to hate.’”
10ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ وَحَفْصِ بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُحِبُّكُمْ وَمَا يَعْرِفُ مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ فَيُدْخِلُهُ الله الْجَنَّةَ بِحُبِّكُمْ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُبْغِضُكُمْ وَمَا يَعْرِفُ مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ فَيُدْخِلُهُ الله بِبُغْضِكُمُ النَّارَ.
10. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn Salim and from Hafs ibn al-Bakhtari from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “The man loves you (followers of Ahl al-Bayt) without knowing your belief and Allah admits him to paradise because he loves you. A man hates you without knowing what your belief is and Allah then admits him in the fire for hating you.”
11ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْعَرْزَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ الْجُعْفِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تَعْلَمَ أَنَّ فِيكَ خَيْراً فَانْظُرْ إِلَى قَلْبِكَ فَإِنْ كَانَ يُحِبُّ أَهْلَ طَاعَةِ الله وَيُبْغِضُ أَهْلَ مَعْصِيَتِهِ فَفِيكَ خَيْرٌ وَالله يُحِبُّكَ وَإِنْ كَانَ يُبْغِضُ أَهْلَ طَاعَةِ الله وَيُحِبُّ أَهْلَ مَعْصِيَتِهِ فَلَيْسَ فِيكَ خَيْرٌ وَالله يُبْغِضُكَ وَالْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ.
11. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ibn al-‘Arzami from his father from Jabir al-Juhfi from abu Ja’far who has said the following: “If you like to know whether there is anything good in you, look into your heart. If it loves people who obey Allah and hates those who disobey Him, then there is good in you and Allah loves you. If it hates the people who obey Allah and loves those who disobey Allah, then there is nothing good in you and Allah hates you. A man is with what he loves.”
12ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الْوَاسِطِيِّ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبَانٍ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَحَبَّ رَجُلاً لله لأثَابَهُ الله عَلَى حُبِّهِ إِيَّاهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ الْمَحْبُوبُ فِي عِلْمِ الله مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَلَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَبْغَضَ رَجُلاً لله لأثَابَهُ الله عَلَى بُغْضِهِ إِيَّاهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ الْمُبْغَضُ فِي عِلْمِ الله مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ.
12. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from abu Ali al-Wasiti from al-Husayn ibn Aban from those whom he has mentioned (in his book) from abu Ja’far who has said the following: “If a man loves another man just for the sake of Allah, Allah will give him good rewards for his loving him, even if that man is of the people of the fire, in the knowledge of Allah. If a man hates another man just for the sake of Allah, Allah will give him good reward for his hating him, even if that man is of the people of paradise, in the knowledge of Allah.”
13ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ بَشِيرٍ الْكُنَاسِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَدْ يَكُونُ حُبٌّ فِي الله وَرَسُولِهِ وَحُبٌّ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَمَا كَانَ فِي الله وَرَسُولِهِ فَثَوَابُهُ عَلَى الله وَمَا كَانَ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ.
13. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Husayn ibn Sa’id from al-Nadr ibn Suwayd from Yahya al-Halabi from Bashir al-Kannasi from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “Sometimes love is for the sake of Allah and the Messenger of Allah and sometimes it is for the sake of worldly matters. For love, which is for the sake of Allah and the Messenger of Allah, the reward is with Allah. For love that is for the sake of worldly matters there is nothing.”
14ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَأَفْضَلُهُمَا أَشَدُّهُمَا حُبّاً لِصَاحِبِهِ.
14. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama’a ibn Mehran from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “Of the two Muslims who meet each other, the more meritorious is the one who loves his companion more intensely.”
15ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ وَابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ الْجَمَّالِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَا الْتَقَى مُؤْمِنَانِ قَطُّ إِلا كَانَ أَفْضَلُهُمَا أَشَدَّهُمَا حُبّاً لأخِيهِ.
15. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ahmad ibn abu Nasr and ibn Faddal from Safwan al-Jammal from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “Of the two believers who meet each other, the more meritorious one is the one who loves his brethren more intensely.”
16ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ السَّبِيعِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ جَبَلَةَ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ كُلُّ مَنْ لَمْ يُحِبَّ عَلَى الدِّينِ وَلَمْ يُبْغِضْ عَلَى الدِّينِ فَلا دِينَ لَهُ.
16. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Imran al-Subay’i from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jabalah from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “Whoever does not love because of religion and does not hate because of religion has no religion.”
