Racism
7 Aḥadīth

1- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ تَعَصَّبَ أَوْ تُعُصِّبَ لَهُ فَقَدْ خَلَعَ رِبْقَةَ الإيمَانِ مِنْ عُنُقِهِ.


1. Muhammad b. Yahya from from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa from Ali b. al-Hakam from Dawud b. al-Nu’man from Mansur b. Hazim from Abu Abdillah (a.s) who said: “Whoever discriminates or supports discrimination, he has taken off the collar of belief from his neck.”

2- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ وَدُرُسْتَ بْنِ أَبِي مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) مَنْ تَعَصَّبَ أَوْ تُعُصِّبَ لَهُ فَقَدْ خَلَعَ رِبْقَ الإيمَانِ مِنْ عُنُقِهِ.


2. Ali b. Ibrahim from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham b. Salim and Drust b. Abu Mansur from Abu Abdillah (a.s) who said: Rasulullah (s) said, “Whoever discriminates or supports discrimination, he has taken off the collar of belief from his neck.”

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ حَبَّةٌ مِنْ خَرْدَلٍ مِنْ عَصَبِيَّةٍ بَعَثَهُ الله يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَعَ أَعْرَابِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ.


3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has said, ‘Whoever has prejudice/racism in his heart of the size of a mustard seed, on the Day of Judgment Allah will raise him with the bedouins of the time of Jahiliyah (pre-Islamic ignorance).’”

4ـ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ خَضِرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ تَعَصَّبَ عَصَبَهُ الله بِعِصَابَةٍ مِنْ نَارٍ.


4. Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from Khudr from Muhammad ibn Muslim from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s) who has said the following: “On the Day of Judgment Allah will join those who practice racial discrimination with a race in fire.”

5ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ السِّمْطِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيهِما السَّلام) قَالَ لَمْ يُدْخِلِ الْجَنَّةَ حَمِيَّةٌ غَيْرُ حَمِيَّةِ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَذَلِكَ حِينَ أَسْلَمَ غَضَباً لِلنَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) فِي حَدِيثِ السَّلَى الَّذِي أُلْقِيَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه).


5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from Safwan ibn Mehran from ‘Amir ibn al-Simt from Habib ibn Abu Thabit from Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s) who said: “No zeal has entered Paradise except the zeal of Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib, and that was when he accepted Islam out of anger for the Prophet ﷺ during the incident of the entrails that were thrown upon the Prophet ﷺ.”

6ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَلائِكَةَ كَانُوا يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّ إِبْلِيسَ مِنْهُمْ وَكَانَ فِي عِلْمِ الله أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْهُمْ فَاسْتَخْرَجَ مَا فِي نَفْسِهِ بِالْحَمِيَّةِ وَالْغَضَبِ فَقَالَ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ نارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ طِينٍ.


6. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from Fadalah from Dawud ibn Farqad from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s) who has said the following: “The angels thought that Satan was one of them. In the knowledge of Allah he was not one of them. He (Satan) let out that which was in his soul with racist feelings and anger saying, ‘You have created me from fire and You created him from clay.’”

7ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَاسَانِيِّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ سُئِلَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيهِما السَّلام) عَنِ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ فَقَالَ الْعَصَبِيَّةُ الَّتِي يَأْثَمُ عَلَيْهَا صَاحِبُهَا أَنْ يَرَى الرَّجُلُ شِرَارَ قَوْمِهِ خَيْراً مِنْ خِيَارِ قَوْمٍ آخَرِينَ وَلَيْسَ مِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُحِبُّ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ وَلَكِنْ مِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُعِينَ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ.


7. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Ali ibn Muhammad al-Qasani from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from al-Minqari from ‘Abd al-Razzaq from Mu’ammar from al-Zuhri who has said the following: “Once, Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s) was asked about racist feelings. He said, ‘The racist feeling that is a sin is the one that makes a person call the evil doers of his own people better than the virtuous individuals of the other people. A man’s loving his own people is not racism but it is a sin to help one’s own people to commit injustice.”
