ٱلْأَعْرَاف
7:138
وَجَاوَزْنَا
بِبَنِي
إِسْرَائِيلَ
الْبَحْرَ
فَأَتَوْا
عَلَى
قَوْمٍ
يَعْكُفُونَ
عَلَى
أَصْنَامٍ
لَّهُمْ
قَالُوا
يَامُوسَى
اجْعَل
لَّنَا
إِلَهًا
كَمَا
لَهُمْ
آلِهَةٌ
قَالَ
إِنَّكُمْ
قَوْمٌ
تَجْهَلُونَ
wa-jāwaznā bi-banī ʾisrāʾīla l-baḥra fa-ʾataw ʿalā qawmin yaʿkufūna ʿalā ʾaṣnāmin lahum qālū yā-mūsā jʿal lanā ʾilāhan ka-mā lahum ʾālihatun qāla ʾinnakum qawmun tajhalūna
We helped the children of Israel to cross the sea. They came to a people who worshipped idols. The Israelites demanded Moses to make gods for them like those of the idol-worshippers. Moses told them, "You are an ignorant people.
