وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى إِسْحَاقَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ
And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants [some] are virtuous, and [some] who manifestly wrong themselves.
Agha Ali Puya Commentary
Commentary on Quran 37:113
[Pooya/Ali Commentary 37:113] Is-haq's other name was Israil, hence the children of Is-haq are referred to as the children of Israil. They enjoyed the promised blessings of Allah as long as they deserved it, but, when, on account of their ungodly ways, they fell from grace, they did not stop Allah's plan, and the responsibility of keeping alive the guidance from Allah was transferred to the children of Ismail after prophet Isa who was the last prophet in the progeny of Is-haq (refer to Baqarah : 124).
