وَلَقَدْ

أَرْسَلْنَا

مِن

قَبْلِكَ

فِي

شِيَعِ

الْأَوَّلِينَ

wa-la-qad ʾarsalnā min qablika fī shiyaʿi l-ʾawwalīna

Certainly We sent [apostles] before you to former communities,

— Ali Quli Qarai

We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old:
