وَلَقَدْ
آتَيْنَا
مُوسَى
الْكِتَابَ
فَاخْتُلِفَ
فِيهِ
وَلَوْلَا
كَلِمَةٌ
سَبَقَتْ
مِن
رَّبِّكَ
لَقُضِيَ
بَيْنَهُمْ
وَإِنَّهُمْ
لَفِي
شَكٍّ
مِّنْهُ
مُرِيبٍ
wa-la-qad ʾātaynā mūsā l-kitāba fa-khtulifa fīhi wa-law-lā kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika la-quḍiya baynahum wa-ʾinnahum la-fī shakkin minhu murībin
We gave the Book to Moses but people had different views about it. Had the Word of your Lord not been already ordained, He would have settled their differences (there and then). They are still in doubt about this.
