Ali ibn Ja’far, from his brother Imam Musa ibn Ja’far عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: I (narrator) asked Imam عليه السلام about ‘a mukatab (slave who has entered into a contractual agreement), Is the fitrah of the month of Ramadan upon him or upon the one who entered into a mukatabah with him? And is his testimony permissible?’ Imam عليه السلام said: “The fitrah is upon him, and his testimony is not permissible.”
